You Call That A Storm?

Ok. That sustained wind had us quite concerned. At about 7pm we looked out our windows and noticed half the neighborhood without power and shit just flying everywhere. We grabbed the blow up mattresses (the kids have their own) and had a camping adventure in the living room. My wife and son fell asleep instantly, apparently soothed by the sound of howling gusts and cracking limbs. My daughter on the other hand was unnerved and jumped in my bed and pull the covers over her head. And I did too, as much as one can sleep on the narrow edge of an inflatable mattress.

But we came through just fine. No flooding in the basement, and we seem to have one limb down on the property line. The power never even went out. Later today I'll get out the chain saw, cuss at it relentlessly because I bought it during a beer-induced shopping spree at Crazy Bob's Discount Lawn Equipment and Boiled Peanuts, and dispose of that limb. Should be fun... or a trip to the emergency room.

All take care. I hope you made it through. I hear WV got walloped with snow. Murphy's Law and ProudHillbilly, let us know you are ok.

  1. Same here, no damage thankfully. Better than the folks up North, they are hurting.

  2. No snow here. That was farther south. Rain's even stopped here. No damage and I have to admit...I'm bored.

  3. All good. The derecho of June and snow of October a year ago did more damage. I wonder if they actually helped out by knocking the weakest stuff down, leaving less to come down this time.

  4. My power flickered yesterday. Had to reset all the clocks in the house. It was horible. Every time I asked Mrs B what time it was, she would start singing that old Chicago tune.
    I used to like Chicago.

  5. I'm glad you all made it safely through.

The limb is chopped up and on the curb now. Miller time!

  6. Not that you asked, but we are fine too:) we also had a sleepover in our livingroom. The hubs and I were concerned about trees crashing onto the roof, but we had a very mild storm here.

So glad you and the others fared well!!!!!!!

    1. I just assumed that since you are so awesome and TSM is such a bad ass that Hurricane Sandy knew to avoid your abode. :)
