I didn't think it was possible to have a better time than last years WV WWF BS, but I did! Many thanks to Murphy's Law for organizing it and to 340 Defense for letting us use their range.
With all the firearms shooting and such, I neglected to do any camera shooting. But MSgt B caught this one of me getting intimate with his M4.
| Peace Out, yo! |
That was not planned.
Steel target, Tannerite and exploding pumpkins, and full-auto. What's not to like!
All that being said, my favorite part was at the 400 yard range. Unfortunately my Enfield did not make its debut, but Old NFO let me get some trigger time on his M24. OMG! Is that rifle ever so sweet. Hitting a steel silhouette at 400 yards was a snap. As Thunderbolt kept saying, that gun's got an easy button.
And then Keads brought his M1 Garand over. With his help on the spotting scope, I walked five rounds to the target and then smacked the last 3 of the clip into the steel... with iron sights only! Given the needed elevation the front post completely blocked the target, so I was quite happy to accomplish the hits. (Thanks very much, Keads. That made my day!)
Overall, it was an excellent time and we raised $1100 for the Wounded Warrior Fund. Other AARs here: Old NFO, Murphy's Law, MSgt B, New Jovian Thunderbolt, and the The Shekel.
Good to see you again and it was my pleasure!
