I'm putting Sharp Shooters in Lorton, VA, on the list of businesses I no longer do business with. It would seem Kate, useful idiot and manager of Sharp Shooters, thinks it is ridiculous that Virginia issues concealed handgun permits without requiring some sort of shooting test. Oh, did she forget to mention in her televised betrayal of gun owners that she'll gladly take their money in exchange for said necessary, government-enforced training she wishes did exist? Nope, no conflict of interest there!
It's not that I'm against training. Everybody should seek out handgun training, but the government shouldn't be dictating it.
Ugh, that is insanity. No one is a bigger fan of training than me, but to require it is wrong, wrong, wrong! Virginia's gun laws are not ideal, but for the most part they are reasonable. Not a lot required to get a permit here and yet we do not have mass shootings either by ND or intended violence on the part of legal gun owners.
ReplyDeleteIdiot!
You speak words of wisdom!
DeleteThey went full retard.
ReplyDeleteYou never go full retard. You'll walk away empty-handed.
Ah, the old "I'm pro-2A, but..."
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up Andy.
MSgt B - I loved that part of the movie.
ReplyDeleteDavid - That's what I'm here for.
After years in the military, being a gun owner, working in a gun store and range and witnessing the NIGHTMARISH people that come through that door I can empathize with Kate. I don't find it at all unreasonable to require a basic firearm safety course or just having fundamental knowledge of safely handling a firearm before being sold one. In fact when working at a gun range/store before I have had people want to purchase a firearm with no prior experience. All that I asked or encouraged them to do is to try before buying, send them back with an instructor or someone with experience, show them some fundamentals and then let them make a decision. Last thing anyone should want is some numbskull that doesn't even know how to load a firearm, packing one.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet there are no statistics that say mandatory training for carry makes us less or more safe, which is odd since some states require range qualification while others require no training at all.
DeleteShould be people be trained before carrying a firearm? Yes. Should people know the issues before they vote? Yes. Should the government be deciding who gets to exercise Constitutional rights? No.
