Coating a Lower Receiver

The stripped lower receiver I got from Stag wasn't finished very well. Whatever coating they put on it scratched if you looked at it wrong and looked uneven. Which is odd because I have a complete lower half from them that is totally good-to-go.

Anyway, before putting the parts in I decided to finish it off with a better coating (of black, of course).

The prep work took 20 times longer than the painting. Hopefully this isn't a lesson in how to ruin a lower receiver.

  1. Long (good) prep means no problems AFTER the coating... Just sayin...

    1. Yeah, I know. But you never realize just how many small little pin holes an AR15 receiver has until you have to cover them up.

  2. Jeez. You're supposed to cover the garage floor BEFORE painting?
No wonder my landlord thinks I'm an ass.

    1. No. You only have to do that if you own the garage. If you're a renter, you can practice your jack hammering in there.
