The 20th Anniversary of Ruby Ridge

I had a separate blog post being readied for today until Borepatch reminded me that today is 20th anniversary of the killing of Vicki Weaver. Yesterday was the 20th anniversary of the killing of her 14-year old son, Samuel.

When I was young and stupid, I foolishly believed the mass media portrayal of this event as a bunch of white supremacists who got in a shoot-out with the Feds and got what was coming to them.  Only years later did I learn the horrible truth. If you have not read Jess Walter's Every Knee Shall Bow, I strongly recommend it.

Both Ruby Ridge and Waco are examples of out-of-control government and blind dogma killing innocents, all in the name of gun-control.

  1. I believed the same thing for years. I had no idea what really happened.

  2. Gun control was, in my opinion, more of an 'excuse'... The powers that be didn't get their way, so they went in 'hard' using gun control as the excuse for deadly force...

    1. Well, yes there was a good bit of "they are different than us and therefore EXTREMELY DANGEROUS" going on with the FBI. It was very obvious in that the ROE was changed by DC officials to basically "if you can see them, shoot them".
