With that one word transmission, he said "Sorry, I won't be able to make it back to the runway. As a matter of fact, I really don't have time to talk to you. I'm screaming towards the ground at over 100 mph, and I'm probably about to die a horrible death being shoved headfirst through two inches of glass, while on fire, but that's alright, as long as I sound good on the radio while it's happening."
It's all in the tone of voice.
I'm betting he was prior Air Force. We practice "radio voice" all the time.
It's cool, but if it had been a Boeing, there is a good chance they would have STILL had power enough to land safely...
