We saw it twice. Very cool.
Here's what the news crews caught:
Everybody around me was cheering. Just keep this in mind the next time you hear somebody disparaging the concept of American exceptionalism. There's only one country in the world where this was ever seen, and it wasn't Luxembourg or France or whatever. The shuttle program is a clear example of American exceptionalism, and the final descent of Discovery in the 4th year of Obama is symbolic of what happens when you have an administration that does not share that vision.
Great videos, thanks! And that was a greaser landing :-) The T-38 on the go flashed through the frame right at the end, doing his/her job all the way to touchdown.
ReplyDeleteThe angles must really play with your sense of perspective. It looks like the T-38 is flaying across the path of the 747, but I doubt it did that. But yes, looks like a very smooth landing.
DeleteYou are correct, the T was flying parallel to the runway, probably 500 feet lateral to the runway.
