Slick commercial huh?
But if you misspent your youth as much as I did with mosh pits and "progressive" or college radio, you should recognize that tune as the Violent Femme's Blister In The Sun. I believe it to be their biggest hit. Never heard of it? Then let me enlighten...
While the title somewhat gives it away, the lyrics are pretty easy to understand:
When I'm walkin' I strut my stuff, man I'm so strung out
I'm high as a kite I just might stop to check you out
Let me go on like I blister in the sun,
Let me go on big hands I know you're the one
Body and beats I stain my sheets I don't even know why
My girlfriend she's at the end she is starting to cry
Let me go on like I blister in the sun,
Let me go on big hands I know you're the one...
and it goes on from there. So yeah, it's a song about masturbation. What's the selling point HP is trying to make? Guess they know what a lot of this information technology is really used for.
Here's a video of the song, made a few years after the song made it big in college radio when Gross Point Blank made it bigger:
One of my favorite old tunes.
ReplyDeleteand the movie is damn good too.
I think my favorite album is Why Do Birds Sing. According to Wikipedia, they also sold the rights for Blister In the Sun to Wendy's in 2006, which was the cause of their final breakup.
ReplyDeletehmmm, perhaps HP will use Liz Phair's F%@* and Run next ;).
ReplyDeleteThey aren't that hip.
DeleteLOL, things I never knew... Thank you Sir!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could provide a service, NFO.
