Birthday Comes Early

Some time ago, CTone and I took our Evil Black Rifles out into a cow pasture and shot some stuff. I was pleased because some of the stuff being shot was my new steel target, which was great. But when it came time to shoot paper for things like zeroing our scopes, I really started wondering if I should have spent that coin on a spotting scope instead of a steel target.

I mentioned it to my wife, noting that a spotting scope would be a swell birthday gift... and btw, perhaps it could come early given the blogshoot in W.Va this weekend. She came through in a big way. One of my commenters mentioned upon my posting about being told to buy a gun to piss off the local pravda that she was a real keeper. I'm gonna have to agree -- big time!

When I got it, my son wanted badly to play with it. So I put it on the tripod, fixed the power to the lowest setting, and focused it on a Christmas card across the room. My son put his eye to the eye piece and said, "I see my sister and my mommy." Which was pretty amazing considering they were upstairs. So this spotting scope is really, really good.

  1. You'll come to value that scope, trust me :-) And yes, you got a keeper too!!!
