One of the pleasures of being a parent is rocking your kids to sleep for an afternoon nap. On weekends, I'd quickly volunteer to put our son down, sneaking him upstairs to the nursery and rocking him to sleep. Like all things that make parenting easy -- nursing from a bottle, TV watching, co-sleeping, rice cereal, etc... -- you are not suppose to do it. I pretty much didn't care, especially considering a father has no built-in hardware to help with the napping like a mother does. Plus, I'd use the time to steal a couple of winks for myself.
Sadly, that time with our son is coming to an end. He's getting too big to find a sustainable snuggle position. I knew it would come to an end, as it did with our daughter. But I will always look back on those naps with fondness and remember them as one of the perks of fatherhood.
