The other night I was watching Olivia, the cartoon about the little girl pig, with my daughter. If you haven't seen the TV show or the books, Olivia is characterized by the color red. Her clothes are always red and her possessions are almost always red. My daughter is much the same way, except her color is pink. I know, shocking.
In the episode, Olivia's father is brushing his teeth in the bathroom when Olivia saddles up beside him with her red stool to use the sink, essentially pushing her father out of the way. When she is done, she climbs down and takes her stool with her. Then she comes back, climbs back on her stool and kisses her father and leaves once more.
Having had this same sort of scene play out many times in our house, I turned to my daughter and asked, "Why don't you ever kiss me on the cheek like that?"
To which she immediately responded, "If you bought me a pink stool, I would."
I ordered it from Amazon Prime yesterday. It should be here tomorrow.
